The art of growing, preparing and enjoying fine teas is one of China’s great contributions to world culture. Nowhere is the Chinese art of tea as enthusiastically practiced as on the island of Taiwan. Taiwan’s unique geography, combining cool, wet weather with extremely high mountains makes for a wonderful tea growing environment, and it is widely believed that Taiwanese high mountain teas are the finest in the world.
The best teas are harvested only two times each year. The spring harvest begins at the end of April, while the winter harvest occurs in mid to late October. We only buy teas at these times, as the best production is usually sold out in under a month.
I originally became involved in Chinese tea culture in the early 1990s while living in Taiwan, and every year since then I have imported the finest tea I could find for myself and my friends. High quality Taiwanese teas are expensive, and it is only through buying large quantities that affordable pricing is possible.
For my wife and I, tea is a way of life rather than a business. Therefore, we have opted not to create an online store selling tired old teas, but rather to generate a mailing list of likeminded friends with whom we can share this delightful way of life. If you enjoy high mountain oolongs, please sign up, and we will notify you twice each year when the finest teas we can find are available.
